The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) that declared the 2016 HSC exam results on Wednesday has said that there will be no re-examination of bookkeeping and accountancy in spite of the paper being leaked as it did not reach many students.

The state board is awaiting a report on the leak from the Kashimira police station where a case has been registered; inquiry is going on.

The HSC bookkeeping and accountancy paper was held on March 4. A police case on the circulation of the question paper on social media was registered the same day with the Kashimira police, when a student was caught with a mobile phone inside the exam centre at a Mira Road college.

On April 13, the police had arrested a 44-year-old teacher of a Ghatkopar school who had allegedly sent pictures of the question paper to a student in Ghatkopar. Officers had recorded statements of the 20 students among whom the paper had circulated.

Chairman of MSBSHSE, Pune, Gangadhar Mhamane said, "Since the results are out, the board will not conduct a re-exam now as not many got the question paper."

"We are still waiting for the report from the Kashimira police. We don't even know who the teacher is as yet. Once we do we will begin our departmental inquiry against him. The student who was caught with a mobile phone at the exam centre in which the question paper was found will face action," said Duttatray Jagtap, chairman, Mumbai division board.
