Despite a prolonged drive against ‘no honking’, motorists in Mumbai rarely learn. Hence, in a bid to go for mass appeal, the transport department will run Mumbai Marathon on January 21 along with messages on ‘anti honking’. They will be participating in the Dream Run that will happen in south Mumbai.

“We will be participating in the Mumbai Marathon where our staff from the transport department and various RTOs will carry placards with messages on ‘no honking’,” said an official from the transport department.

The anti-honking drive started in the first week of December where RTO staff and those from traffic police were seen standing on the roads with folded hands asking motorists not to honk. There is hardly any fine imposed on motorists who use loud horns.
