Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, on Tuesday, said in the Assembly that the police doesn't have a single piece of evidence that points to Sambhaji Bhide Guruji's involvement in the Bhima-Koregaon violence that broke out in January.

He said that thought a woman had filed complaint saying she had seen Bhide Guruji and Milind Ekbote involved in the riot, she said her information was hearsay during an in-camera statement to the police. She added that she recognises neither Bhide, nor Ekbote.

The Chief Minister added that the police have checked Bhide's mobile phone call records for the past six month and found that neither he nor his prominent followers working for his organization were in the vicinity of Bhima-Koregaon around the incident. His phone was not in the vicinity of the village when the riots broke out and he was not in touch with his followers six months prior to the incident, Fadnavis said.

He added that he had brought all these facts to the notice of delegation led by Prakash Ambedkar on Monday. "Ambedkar has given information about an (inflammatory) Facebook post, and I have assured him that it would be looked in to within eight days," said the Chief Minister.

Fadnavis told the Assembly that 17 atrocity cases and 622 other cases filed in connection with Bhima-Koregaon violence and violence during the bandh. He added that 1,199 arrests have been made and preventive action was taken against 2,954 persons.

He assured the Assembly that those found indulging in or instigating violence would not be spared, saying the incident was a blot on the law and order situation in the state.
