New metro line will affect 2.600 structures, including Maharashtra government & political offices

The Colaba-Bandra-SEEPZ metro line will affect 2,614 buildings of various uses, comprising 1,889 residential structures and 603 commercial structures. In addition, 47 units are a combination of residential and commercial, and the remaining 75 are other kinds of structures.

The Colaba-Bandra-SEEPZ metro line will affect 2,614 buildings of various uses, comprising 1,889 residential structures and 603 commercial structures. In addition, 47 units are a combination of residential and commercial, and the remaining 75 are other kinds of structures.

As per the statistics available with dna, a total of 39.09 hectares will be needed during and after the construction of the metro line. Of this, a major component of 27.29 hectares will be of temporary use, that is, the land will be needed only during the construction phase. After construction, people will be re-settled in the locations where they have been staying for years now.

The Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC) said it has already served notices to political parties and government offices that fall under the 'other kind' of category of project-affected structures. The political party offices that will be moved include those of the Nationalist Congress Party, Congress, Shiv Sena, Samajwadi Party, Republican Party of India, and Peasants and Workers Party.

Government offices include legal metrology department, finance department, Maharashtra administrative tribunal, employment exchange, among others.

The garden next to Siddhivinayak Temple will be out of bounds for children during the construction phase as it will be dug up to build a station beneath; as will be the situation at a portion of Oval Maidan, Azad Maidan and the racecourse.
