Nehru Science Centre (NSC), one of the largest science centres in India, on Saturday screened a new science film titled 'To Fly'. This new film was inaugurated by chief guest Capt. Sangita Kabra Bangar, deputy general manager, Air India, Mumbai.

The film 'To Fly' provides an immersive overview experience of transportation and flight in America. It presents an emotional and visual experience and takes the audiences on a floating voyage over the Vermont countryside and Niagara Falls in a balloon.

The film is being screened at the 'Science Odyssey' facility, installed in 2009, which consists of a large format film projection on an 18-m-diameter hemi-spherical dome. This facility is one of its kind in the city and provides an immersive experience to the visitors while watching science films on the full dome screen projected with the help of special projection equipment.

The film in the IMAX format marked the debut of Director Greg McGillivray's giant screen film making career. This film has received numerous filmmaking awards and set records and, in 1996, was selected by the Library of Congress (USA) for preservation in the national film registry, America's film archive.

There will be five shows a day with a facility for special shows on request from organised groups. The shows will be in Hindi and English.

The Centre remains open on all days throughout the year except Holi & Diwali from 10.00 am to 6:00 pm.

The Centre has completed 25 years of disseminating scientific research and inciting citizen participation in the cause of science. Due to its programmes, exhibitions and facilities, the Centre has become a hub of science popularisation activities in the western region of the country. Over 7.5 lakh people annually visit the Centre.
