A 24-year-old Nerul resident has been booked for allegedly stalking and harassing a 22-year old woman over the phone for over six months. The accused also allegedly sent obscene messages to her over WhatsApp.

According to the police, the girl lodged a case of molestation against the suspect, whom she identified as Siddharth Shekhar. In her complaint, she alleged that Shekhar somehow acquired her phone number and kept calling from different numbers.

The woman approached the RAK Marg police late on Saturday after Shekhar showed up near Sigma Laboratories in Wadala and allegedly held her hand. He fled from the place soon after the incident, said police.

"Shekhar had been calling her and verbally abusing her over the phone. Recently, he started messaging her on a mobile messenger application, and would send her obscene messages. We are investigating whether the two knew each other and what the reason was for which Shekhar was stalking the woman. No arrest has been made so far," said an officer from RAK Marg police station.
