Training guns at the ruling Shiv Sena in TMC for unauthorised constructions, NCP leaders, who are on an indefinite fast for cluster development, alleged that “TMC failed to act against structures under the MRTP Act and Development Plan Rules”.

“Sena is controlling TMC for 25 years and BMC for 27. Whatever unauthorised constructions that have come up are with the blessings of the ruling party in these civic bodies, and today Sena is taking out morchas simply to hide its wrong doings. Had the party checked unauthorised constructions at an early stage, several innocent lives could have been saved today,” state NCP president Bhaskar Jadhav said. “The power to act against such constructions is with local self-government bodies, however, Sena played Marathi card to protect them.”

Jadhav rubbished reports that NCP’s indefinite fast was to gain political mileage. “Our main aim is to protect the interests of residents and not to gain any political mileage or claim any credit. We want the chief minister to act fast and take a decision on the cluster development soon,” he said.

MLA Jitendra Awhad said, “The fast will continue till CM announces policy for cluster development.” Jadhav said, “Guardian minister Ganesh Naik and MP Naik have been following up the matter aggressively with the state.”

‘Anyone is coming and constructing’
“The state has been assuring for the last three years that it will implement cluster development project, however, it has failed to come out with a policy regarding cluster development. Authorised as well as unauthorised buildings in this belt have started collapsing and people are losing lives. Anyone is constructing buildings,” said MP Sanjeev Naik.
