A 32-year old Naval police constable has been arrested by the Cuffe Parade cops for outraging the modesty of his colleague's wife.
A 32-year old Naval police constable has been arrested by the Cuffe Parade cops for outraging the modesty of his colleague's wife.
The arrested constable has been identified as Vijay Dheke. According to the police, Dheke stays in the same building where the woman stays with her family, in Navy Nagar, in Colaba.
Two days ago, the woman had an argument with her husband over some issue, and Dheke had mediated to resolve the matter. The husband then left for work, leaving his wife alone at home.
An officer with Cuffe Parade police said that Dheke took advantage of his colleague's absence, adding: "The woman said that Dheke entered her home at night on the pretext of consoling her, but touched her inappropriately.
The complainant resisted and asked Dheke to leave her home."
The officer said that the woman informed her family about the transgression, after which they lodged a complaint against Dheke. Following this, Dheke was arrested.
In another case, the DN Nagar police arrested a man for molesting a 24-year old woman. The police are on the lookout for the accomplice of the arrested person.
The arrested person has been identified as Sameer Abdul Nabi Shaikh, while his accomplice has been identified as Imran Hanif Baloch. The duo has more than 15 offences registered against their names.
According to the police, the woman is a resident of Malad and had come to her maternal home in Gilbert Hill area at DN Nagar. On the night of May 11, when she was walking on the road, Shaikh and Baloch tried to molest her. They did the same thing the next day.
An officer with DN Nagar police said: "The woman lodged a complaint, after which Shaikh was arrested."
