Navi Mumbai Mayor's Marathon (NMMM) has come a long way since its inception. This year, the marathon runners will get to experience a better phase with advanced arrangements. From introduction to high end technology to better facilities and accessories for the participants.
NMMM will be entering its fourth year with the event. This time, promotions have been looked after well in advance with increase in the number kiosks put up in the city and better reach. Nehal Thakkar, member from organising committee said, "This year, there are around 15 kiosks put up around the city, at Joggers Park and other prominent locations. This mean, we have a better reach this year as it includes both Thane and Raigad districts. As far as registrations are concerned, we are expecting more than 8,000 participants."
This year, the runners will also be provided with t-shirts in order to make participants feel more valued and add recognition to the event. "The first 1,500 people registered for the marathon will be receiving RFID chips, which will help them track their time and speed. These are gadgets that have been used in other mega marathons, but will be used for the first time in Navi Mumbai," said another organiser, Pulin Parekh. He opined, "Adding to the glamour quotient, there are television actors invited for the run. This year, we are trying to create a brand identity for the marathon and it is going to be a huge event."
"The online registrations have closed and there are already 4,500 plus registrations, along with more entries pouring in everyday. Also, this year we have a wonder run for special contestants who cannot participate in the marathon. This marathon will carter to everybody, with the cause this year speaks of a healthy body," said Parekh.
Deepak Sinha (28), a Nerul resident said, "I have been an active participant in city marathons and this year, there is NMMM that looks like the right opportunity for a runner. I am looking forward to getting registered and also meet other, like-minded city runners."
