Navi Mumbai schools will have to wait for another week to get the government resolution (GR) regarding the pre-primary sections admission. Reason: the deputy director of primary education has not received the copy of the GR.

The directorate of primary education will prepare and send the GR in a couple of days, said Mahavir Mane, director of primary education.

The suspense over the admission in primary section continues as schools have so far only media reports about the government’s directive which do not allow them to admit children before April-May. All the admissions done in November-December will be considered illegal.

This decision has evoked protest from schools as many of them have already either completed or started the admission process. Even parents are a worried lot as they cannot take decision at the moment.

Most of the schools have complained that the decision has come in a little late, and that it would create trouble for parents as well. Since the circular has still not reached to the schools, and they are not in a position to plan their next course of action. But, as usual, most of the schools have already sold forms and they are likely to start the admission process.

“It is not our fault that we have started with the admission process. The government’s decision came in late,” said a principal from CBSE school, requesting anonymity.

“I am aware that parents are worried with this decision, but this will help them,” said Mane. He added that the GR will reach the deputy director of primary education and education officers in couple of days. “Later, the education officer will circulate the GR to all the schools,” said Mane.

“We have not received any notice from the education department. Once we get it, we will plan the admission process accordingly,” said another principal.

Parents are worried as they had zeroed down on a particular school after a hunt of almost two to three months. Now, this sudden change in the policy may create problems.

Many schools say they haven’t been informed about this development, and that they will go ahead with the admissions. “We haven’t got any notification, so admissions will happen as per our schedule for now,” said another principal.

Anuj Pandey, vice-president of All India Federation of PTA, said, “I had a talk with the director of education and he has assured that the GR will reach to school in week time.”

He added, “In absence of the circular from the government, nobody can prevent schools from carrying out admissions. This will create problems for parents, too, as they may not find seats next year, if they do not admit their in the schools now.”
