In order to ensure pedestrian safety, Napean Sea Road residents have asked officials to put up median at certain locations and to cut loose branches of trees. The residents had recently asked for a traffic median to be realigned for better flow of traffic moving out of Napean Sea Road.

“There are certain places where the median is missing. We have requested the BMC to do the work,” said Gita Mirchandani, chairperson of the Napean Sea Road Citizens Forum (NSRCF).

The residents said that due to missing medians, there are issues of crossing and adds to the lack of discipline among motorists. Speeding cars often cross the median line. Residents also requested that branches of trees that are hanging precariously be pruned so that they can trimmed.

“With median, we have also asked for zebra crossing,” added Mirchandani.

“We have started the work and at some places it is not completed because some poles need to be shifted. If they are shifted in a day or two, we will be completing the median work by this week or latest by next week,” said an official who looks after median work from the D ward (Malabar Hill) under which the area falls.

“We have already started work on pruning of trees as part of pre-monsoon work. Around 20 or 30 trees must have been pruned by now,” said an official who looks after trees.
