Despite chief minister Devendra Fadnavis's tweet, in which he informed that the Director General of Police (DGP) has been directed to take strict action against the officers who bullied the two minor rape survivors, a guardian of one of them was taken to Nalasopara police station on Friday and was allegedly forced to give her thumb impressions on a statement.

dna in its issue of December 4 had questioned Fadnavis about the insensitive attitude of Nalasopara police towards the minor rape survivors. The chief minister responded by tweeting in his official twitter account.

The grandmother of the 12-year-old rape survivor has on camera alleged that she was forcibly taken to Nalasopara police station with her granddaughter at 7am and in the presence of Shrikrishna Kokate, additional superintendent of police, Narsinha Bhosale, deputy superintendent of police and others the officers initiated an enquiry.

"We were taken to the police station and made to wait until senior officials arrived. They kept asking the same questions repeatedly and demanded Rs2,500 for a video recording of the statement. I was asked to give my thumb impression on the statement prepared by them," said the grandmother.

"They then warned us not to speak to the media and said that if we did so, we would be in trouble. But I want justice because my child is traumatised to a great extent," she added.
However, a clean chit has been given to Nalasopara police by Suvez Haque, superintendent of police, Palghar. "Prima facie, the report submitted reveals that all procedures were followed and no intentional delays took place in both the cases. The statements of parents, survivors and the counsellors have been video recorded accordingly," said Haque.

When asked about the alleged pressure mounted on the parents, Haque said, "If they have any problem regarding the attitude of the police, they should give a written complaint. Action would be taken if anyone is found guilty. Media reports would not be taken into consideration," added Haque.

Talking about the accused, the SP said: "We have arrested the accused in both the rape cases and proceedings against them will be conducted as per law."
