Don’t use your car today, have fun

Residents of Bandra will wake up to a thrilling ‘no-car’ experience on Sunday.
They will not wake up to the sounds of cars whizzing past or honking non-stop as young and old will take out their bicycles, skate boards or just dance on the road. Residents are celebrating ‘car-free day’ on Sunday at Carter Road, where a series of events are planned for the day.

The event is expected to generate 60,000 to 80,000 footfall. Fountainhead is organising the event which is supported by KBS Foundation and Member of Parliament Priya Dutt and MLA Baba Siddique.

The programme will start at 7am on a peaceful note with yoga, meditation, Tibetan Yoga and pranayama by experts from Yoga Institute, Santa Cruz.

The inaugural ceremony will take place between 10am and 11am. The entire day is planned in different sections with lots of activities right from the main stage, mini amphitheatre, Gazebo, kids zone and roads activities on the 1km-Carter Road.

Apart from cultural programmes such as classical dance, lyrical contemporary and Zumba session, sports activities such as live chess, gully cricket, street football and street hockey matches will be played at different locations.

Book reading and physical and mental health management sessions will also be part of the no-car day. Senior citizens can participate in a walkathon.
The most exciting events will be rock bands, performance by Sunidhi Chauhan, a thrilling show of Bandra cycle club and Sharp Tune – BMX stunts.
