A Mulund resident who flew back to Mumbai on Friday from China on a Singapore Airlines flight has raised a complaint alleging that her bag has been tampered with and some of her valuables including some jewellery are missing.

Devanshi Thakker had taken the Singapore Airlines flight from Beijing to Mumbai via Singapore. However, when Thakker landed at Mumbai airport on Friday, she was informed that her baggage was still in Singapore due to some issues.

When the baggage was finally delivered by the airline staff at Thakker's resident in the central suburb, it was ripped, she claimed, and valuables including a watch she estimated at Rs 20,000 and some imitation jewellery was missing from the bag.

"I was promised on Friday that my bag would reach Mumbai by Friday night, but it was delivered to my house on Saturday. And I am shocked that valuables have gone missing from it," Thakker said.

"I want the airlines to compensate me for the loss of my valuables, even though they claim that they are not responsible for any loss of valuables. How is it anyone's business to open my bag and take away things from it?" she said.

She has filed a complaint with Singapore Airlines, and the carrier said it is looking into the case.

The airline said in a statement it is "investigating the matter with the relevant authorities and will take necessary steps to assist the customer. Singapore Airlines sincerely apologies for the inconvenience caused."
