Folk musicians from Rajasthan will be performing their ancient folk music in Phoenix MarketCity, Kurla West on January 28. Coming from the deserts of Rajasthan, the ancient folk tribe - the Manganiyars have played to kings and palace audience since centuries.

These Manganiyars, who used to perform in major festivals and national events, have re-appeared in front of live audience in different parts of the world. The threatre starts with a solo manganiyar musician, but gradually incorporates instruments and a total of 43 Manganiyars.

They have performed in places like London, Paris, New York, Sydney, Lyon, Amsterdam among others.

According to the organisers, the magic of 'The Manganiyar Seduction' is in its grandeur and theatrics.

What makes the show special is the brilliant direction and stunning orchestration conjured by world renowned theatre director Roysten Abel. Roysten's presentation is a visually seductive set, inspired by an unexpected synthesis of folk music and the Hawa Mahal or 'Palace of the Winds' in Jaipur.

Roysten Abel first encountered the Manganiyars in a Delhi slum, in search of folk musicians for a tour in Spain. Two agreed to accompany him, and to his amazement, they followed him everywhere he went, for two weeks, serenading him from dawn to dusk. Transformed and 'seduced' by this experience, Abel was inspired to create 'The Manganiyar Seduction.'
