Most New Year bashes have never-ending performances and gigs but what happens after the festivities die down? Well, they continue through the year because music is the soul of life. The party never stops when you are tuned into music that makes you dance and makes you look into your soul.

For those of you who like classical music concerts, head over to Banganga in early January. Promoted by Maharashtra Tourism, musicians from across India are set to arrive at the Banganga Tank, within the Walkeshwar Temple Complex, to perform over two days.

Sushrut Munje, Founder of Hammer & Mop, and a resident of Lower Parel, the hub of Mumbai's music scene, quips, "I like to see Little Boys Who Perform because their wild notes fit every season. I like to see Sandunes perform because they are the dope. I like Skyrabbit because they are bold and pleasantly addictive. I like to see Blek perform because I love their focus and a distinctive rawness." Apart from indie music, Munje also recommends Anandi Joshi, who sings for Duniyadari in the New Year!

June Paul, who visits BlueFROG often, says, "I would like to see more of Ganesh Talkies, the Kolkata-based alt-rock band, in Mumbai, not only because they are my friend's band but also because I simply love the sound and lyrics they produce and their shared passion for Bollywood."

Geetu of Geetu Unplugged is recording a wonderful shloka written on the Rudra form of Shiva by Adi Shankaracharya, a poet sage of the 8th Century. "We will be performing at the Kala Ghoda festival. I am also working on an interesting format for performance for the Bellevue Brunches organised by Sharmishtha Ray. It is very interesting how my years spent as an art consultant have filtered into my musical life." Geetu has been performing for over two decades using a contemporary acoustic approach. She explores various styles and genres, accompanied by a guitar. Her songs have vivid stories that touch the listener's soul.

Filter Coffee is an Indian Ethnotronic collaborative project brought to life by tabla player/percussionist Swarupa and flautist Shriram. Their live performances include a unique blend of Indian classical/folk, instruments and voices with electronic grooves. The group plans to take the sound and live performances to the next level. "There will be international festivals, an album or an EP and most importantly, putting out as much as we can in a year's time," shares their spokesperson.
