Probing the case of a banker's murder, the Charkop police has arrested his wife, her sister and the sister's boyfriend for allegedly killing him a year ago. The deceased, a retired senior bank official, would cast aspersions on his wife's character, thereby prompting her to end her husband's life.

While the deceased has been identified as Prakash Wankhede, 62, a resident of Charkop in Kandivli, those arrested are Wankhede's wife Asha, her sister Vandana Thorave and Thorave's boyfriend Nilesh Supekar.

According to Assistant Commissioner of Police, Shrirang Nadgauda, on April 27, 2016 Asha approached him saying that her husband Prakash had left home on April 12 saying that he would not be coming home for 15 days. This prompted her to approach the police to lodge a missing person's complaint. "Prakash suspected Asha of having an affair. He would check her phone, and abuse her, regularly. She decided to get rid of her husband," said another officer.
