A management college in Nagpur has now made it compulsory for students to watch Rajkumar Hirani’s Lage Raho Munnabhai.
NAGPUR: Move over Peter Drucker, Munnabhai is here. From Gandhigiri to Managementgiri, Munnabhai’s jadoo ki jhappi seems to know no bounds.The latest to come under his spell are management students.
A management college in Nagpur has now made it compulsory for students to watch Rajkumar Hirani’s Lage Raho Munnabhai, a sequel of Munnabhai MBBS.
“The film throws up several management lessons besides being riveting entertainment,” Lalit Khullar, director of the Department of Management Studies and Research (DMSR), Tirpude College, told DNA. “We’ve been toying with innovative teaching tools.”
And the students love this new method of teaching. Ujwala Gundewar, 25, says: “Munnabhai teaches us how to be innovative in dealing with human problems. That is strategic management!”
But there is another reason why she also loves the movie. “The movie brings us a Gandhi in modern avataar. It’s easier to relate to Gandhian thoughts this way,” she says.
Khullar is convinced that his students are connecting with the movie because of the lessons it provides. “When I put up a notice last week making the movie compulsory, I had butterflies in my stomach. But now I am convinced I was right. For us, it is also a way to generate interest among students for curriculum,” he added.
Infact, Lage Raho Munnabhai was part of the department’s attempt to push for learn-while-having-fun programme.
“We’ve been prescribed special books and movies for each management lesson,” says 23-year-old Pinki Soni, a second year management student.
Learning HR skills: “The scene where Lucky Singh (Boman Irani) threatens Munnabhai in front of his house shows that despite provocation, the pivotal character does not revert to his basic instincts of an iconoclast. That’s key to becoming a good HR manager,” says Khullar
