Mumbai: Woman raped for five years on pretext of marriage

The Vile Parle police have registered a rape case against a 28-year-old man for allegedly raping his fiancee on the pretext of marriage. The accused identified as Shoaib Sayyed is absconding with his sister Masroor Sayyed. The police have arrested the duo's father Ghulam Sayyed (63) for allegedly harassing the victim.

In her complaint, the woman alleged the man raped her on the pretext of marriage. She also said the accused forced her to abort her child twice to escape trouble, the police said.

When she refused to abort the child, Shaoib threatened to release intimate videos of the duo which he had recorded without her knowledge. When the victim approached Shoaib's parents, she was assaulted and humiliated by Ghulam and Masroor after which she lodged an official complaint against the trio at VB Nagar police station from where the case was transferred at Vile Parle police station.

"Shoaib and his family are residents of Kurla (W) and after the FIR was registered, Ghulam was arrested. A case has been registered under section 376 (punishment for rape), 354c (voyeurism), 354 (molestation), 313 9causing miscarriage without woman's consent), 342 (wrongful confinement), 323 (causing hurt), 506 (criminal intimidation), 509 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code. Shoaib and his sister Masroor are being searched and further investigation of the case is underway," the officer added.
