Mumbai: Woman police constable found dead; husband detained

The body was found by her husband at around 7:30 pm when he returned back home after picking up their son from school.

A 43-year-old lady constable attached with the Special Branch 2 of Mumbai police was found dead with her throat slit in her house located at second floor of police quarters B block near Mumbai police headquarters on Wednesday evening.

The body was found by her husband at around 7:30 pm when he returned back home after picking up their son from school. The Azad Maidan police suspecting it as a murder has detained the decease’s husband.

According to the Azad Maidan police station on Wednesday evening, the lady constable identified as Smitha Deepak Nandiwadekarpatil was found dead lying in the pool of blood by her husband.

Nandiwadekarpatil was attached with the SB 2 from last one year. Her husband Deepak had gone to pick their son up from a school in South Mumbai. When he came back he found the door of the house closed when he pushed open the door he found Nandiwadekarpatil lying on the floor with her throat slit.

Immediatly Azad Maidan police were informed which started their investigation in the case.

“ We have not found the weapon used to slit the throat so it does not look like a suicide and we suspect it as a murder. We have taken Deepak in custody and are further investigating the matter”, said an officer from Azad Maidan police station.
