Mumbai woman pins actor to a cell with his BBM nudes

A Versova resident must have not imagined what lay in store for her after she exchanged phone numbers and Blackberry messenger (BBM) pins with a small-time actor who lived in the same area.

Sanil Sodhi, who has acted in films such as Hu Tu Tu and Hazaar Chaurasi Ki Maa, started sending the married woman his nude photos on her BBM. Despite repeated warnings, he continued to bombard her with obscene photos of himself, sometimes even at midnight.
Sanil, son of retired IAS officer Vijay Sodhi, was arrested by the Versova police on Monday after the woman and her husband lodged a complaint.

“He has been arrested under section 509 of the IPC and section 67 of the IT Act. He was produced in court on Monday and remanded in police custody till Wednesday,” said Sharad Borse, senior inspector of the Versova police station.

The woman met Sanil at a party some months ago where they exchanged their contact details. “They were in touch with each other on BBM. However, since the past few days, Sanil began sending his nude photos on her BBM. She warned him, but he did not stop,” an officer told DNA. “The victim got very angry when he sent some nude photos at midnight. She told her husband about the photos and approached the police.”

“Sanil is a native of Punjab. His father was an IAS officer in Madhya Pradesh and retired four to five years ago,” Borse said. The police have sent Sanil’s mobile to the forensic laboratory to check if he sent the photos to others too.
