Mumbai woman alleges rape by 65-year-old father-in-law

The Chunabhatti police have registered a rape case after a  woman alleged that she was raped by her 65-year-old father-in-law.

The woman, a native of Madhya Pradesh, had left  Mumbai after the alleged incident on November 1 last. When she told her parents about the assault, they aproached the local police.

The MP police recently informed Chunabhatti cops and the case was transferred to Mumbai.

According to police, the 26-year-old complainant used to stay with her in-laws in Kasaiwada in Kurla (East).

She told the police that on November 1, she and her father-in-law were at their house.

The woman told the cops that taking advantage of the situation, the senior citizen sexually assaulted her.

To scarred to report the matter, the woman left Mumbai and went to parents’ home in MP. It was only a few days she mustered courage to narrage her ordeal to  them. Following this, her parents approached the police there.

After registering the case, a team from the Chunabhatti police went to the house of the accused, but could not find him. Meanwhile, they have sent the woman for a medical test, the reports of which are awaited.

“We have registered a case under section 376 (rape) of the IPC. She had left Mumbai as she was scared. However, her parents made her report the crime,” said Damodar Choudhary, senior inspector of Chunabhatti police station.
