Mumbai witnesses four suicides in 48 hours

In two separate incidents on Saturday, two men in their thirties, who were allegedly depressed, committed suicide by hanging themselves in their respective homes in Gorai.

A 37-year-old man, identified as Prashant Vijay Nalavade, hanged himself in his Gorai residence.
Nalavade who allegedly has been depressed as his wife is a patient of blood cancer. He worked as a manager with a Pune-based bank, but he had to resign and return to the city around six months ago to take care of her.

He lived in Jay Cooperative Housing Society with his wife and their eight-year-old son.

Nalavade’s family confirmed to the police that he was depressed and that they do not doubt any foul play in the incident, said Bharat Chate, senior police inspector of Borivli police station.

In the second incident, a 32-year old Rahul Sadanand Kamble hanged himself with a shawl in his Gorai home.  He faced huge losses in his business because of which he was depressed, said a police officer from Borivli police station.

Kamble was a resident of Nandanvan Society in Gorai. He was a bachelor and lived with his parents, brother and sister-in-law.

He worked as a contractor with the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) and had suffered huge losses in the last four months.

Chate said that Kamble was depressed and his family did not suspect any foul play either.
