Citizens from Bandra, Khar and Juhu are planning to organise a mass protest in order to protest the construction of DN Nagar-Mandale Metro-2B corridor on the ground against the demand of an underground Metro corridor.

The Bombay High Court is currently hearing three public interest litigations (PIL) filed by the resident groups demanding Metro-2B be constructed underground instead of the elevated Metro.

Gautam Rao, residents of Khar said, "We have already file PIL's but we also intend to come out on streets with our demands. The MMRDA in the court the other day accepted that no public suggestions were taken, and we want to be heard. Hence, we are planning to have a meeting of hundreds of residents on Sunday wherein it will be decided on how to go further."

The residents have planned a meeting on Sunday evening in JVPD to discuss the further course of action. Anandini Thakoor, said, "We are planning to come out on streets but that does not mean that our fight in the court has ended but it will go on simultaneously. We have asked for meeting from Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis but he is not ready to meet us over the same."

The residents have been demanding that Metro-2B be constructed underground since several years now considering it passes via narrow streets like SV Road and Link Road.

The MMRDA had earlier planned to go underground due to protest but the plans were changed around four years ago, and it was decided to go elevated citing it being more financially viable.

The Metro-2B DN Nagar-Mandale corridor is 23.5-km-long and the DN Nagar-Mandale Metro corridor is a part of the Metro 2 (Dahisar-Charkop—Bandra-Mandale), which was earlier planned underground, but was later turned into an elevated corridor. The line was also divided into two parts namely Dahisar-DN Nagar Metro-2A, DN Nagar-Mandale Metro-2B.
