Mumbai: Vasai tehsildar and 6 officers allegedly threatened by sand mafia

On Thursday, a Vasai tehsildar and his six officers were reportedly manhandled and threatened by the sand mafi ain Virar.

The officers and the tehsildar Sunil Koli from the revenue department reportedly caught four trucks transporting sand illegally in Virar.

The trucks were being taken to a police station in Virar at 7.30 am in the morning, accoding to reports.

When the trucks and the officers reached Bhamatpada, they were surrounded by a mob of 20 people. The vehicles were stopped and reportedly the mob opened the doors of the police cars and threatened them.

The mob reportedly punched a few of the policemen and before leaving they warned them never to be seen again in the area.

The mob even made the tehsildaar leave the trucks behind.

The officers in the tehsildar's team reportedly identified a few men in the mob from the sand mafia. .
