While others are busy trying to get admission for a Master's degree, Mumbai University student Riddhi Shah (name changed) has other problems to tackle first. The Arts student of a western suburb college has claimed that while she secured first-class marks in all her papers, she was erroneously marked absent in one paper.

"I took all my TYBA examination papers. In fact, I scored very good marks in all subjects. But the university marked me absent in one of the papers, even though I was present. My hall ticket has the signature of the supervisor in the examination hall that day. I even took out the attendance sheet from the examination centre, but still have been marked absent. Now the MU examination centre officials are saying it may take 15-20 days to rectify the mistake.

I am worried I might miss the admission dates," said Shah. She further claimed that many other students were facing similar problems.

When contacted, MU registrar Dr MA Khan said, "I have not received any such complaint. This could have been due to human error. If these students can bring a certificate from their college saying that they were present in the examination centre and appeared for the exam, their result can be changed."
