After a series of goof ups in hall-tickets and exam centres in the present exam season, the University of Mumbai is also making a record in shifting the exam schedules this time.

After several changes made in BA, BCom and BSc papers, now MCom Part 1 and Part 2 exams have also been shifted. Instead of November 8 and 9, MCom Part 1 and Part 2 exams will now start from November 25 and 26 respectively. The detailed timetable has not been released as yet.

This is the second time that MCom papers have been postponed. Earlier, they were slated to be held in October second week, but were postponed without assigning any reason.

In a circular uploaded on the website on November 1, afternoon, university has said that the exams have been shifted in a “special case” though controller of examination Padma Deshmukh refuses to clarify the reason. While some principals speculated that MCom papers were clashing with CA papers, some cited unavailability of teachers due to Diwali vacation and BCom assessment work.

The affiliated colleges and University department have been asked to intimate the students accordingly, however, this would be a tough ask considering the fact that the students were already given preparation leave, said principals. A principal said,“College offices would be closed for Diwali for next four days making the job more difficult.”

However, when dna spoke to an MCom final-year student, who is working in a multinational company, he was unaware about this development. “I didn’t know about it. If it is true, I would be in trouble as I have already applied for leave which has been sanctioned by my boss. I don’t know if I would get leave for new dates now."
