Two senior citizens were found dead in a pool of blood at their Kalyan residence on Sunday. The killer allegedly made up a crime scene to project the motive behind the murder as robbery. The Kolshewadi police is investigating the case and have seized a weapon from the scene crime.

The two victims, Kamlabai Dudhkar (70) and Leelabai (60) were found dead in their residence at Dudhkar Niwas at Khadegowali in Kalyan. Both had suffered severe wounds on heads and were hit with a rigid weapon. Their relative Ganesh informed the police about the incident after finding the door to the flat latched for a long time.

"After learning about the incident, we rushed to the spot and found that the belongings were thrown on the floor and the senior citizens were lying in the pool of blood," said a Kolsewadi police officer.

"There was no forceful entry into the house. The perpetrator was allowed inside the residence by the victims as they knew the person," said the official.

"Prima facie, we suspect that the crime scene was made to look like a robbery attempt, but we are investigating all angles behind the double murder," said the official.

"We have registered a case under Section 302 (murder) and 450 (house trespass in order to commit an offence) of the Indian Penal Code. We have collected fingerprints and awaiting the reports," said KN Ghete, senior inspector, Kolshewadi police station.
