The city crime branch sleuths on Saturday arrested two more Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) staffers in a job racket case, in which jobs were provided in the civic body's G-South ward to candidates who showed bogus documents proving they were relatives of retired or expired employees. So far, five BMC officials have been arrested in the case.

Those arrested on Saturday were identified as Pramod Kaskar and Mukesh Zala alias Makwana, while those arrested earlier were Ramesh Bhika Rathod, Prashil Waghmare and Ganesh Jadhav.

The case came to light last year in December. During the probe of a D-ward job racket, the police came to know about a similar racket being run in the G-South ward. The police then sought information about those candidates whom had got jobs in G-South ward in the last five years.

"So far, the probe has revealed that at least 45 candidates secured jobs through illegal means, with the connivance of corrupt BMC officials," said a crime branch officer.
