In a bizarre protest against chronic issue of potholes in Mumbai, MNS workers dug up road right outside Mantralaya on Tuesday.

The incident took place in the early morning hours today when a group of workers from Raj Thackeray’s party broke section of the road outside the administrative headquarters of the Devendra Fadnavis government.

It comes a day after the MNS workers vandalised an office of the state public works department on Monday.

Nine MNS workers from Thane and Mumbai, who were armed with shovels and other equipment, dug up part of the pavement and road shoulder outside Mantralaya on the Madam Cama road in South Mumbai.

Pointing to how these activists has been detained by the police, MNS general secretary and spokesperson Sandeep Deshpande questioned the state government on action taken against officials who had allowed potholes to come up on roads under their watch. "If our workers have been arrested, what about them?" he questioned.

The Maha Monsoon Woes

While the city has seen rainfall with reduced intensity, citizens have no relief from potholes as motorists continue to suffer in long snarls on major roads.

While Western Express Highway is witnessing snarls right from Kandivali to Andheri, SV Road and Link Road too are clogged at various stretches.

Trains on both Western and Central rail lines are running on time with an average delay to two to five minutes.

The IMD has predicted moderate to heavy rainfall at isolated locations across Mumbai on Tuesday the intensity of rains is likely to reduce over a period of time overall the next 24 hours.

Air traffic at Mumbai airport is normal with no delays along with Versova-Andheri-Ghatkopar Metro also normal.
