Mumbai: To aid cops, Cuffe Parade residents to install CCTV

Residents of Cuffe Parade in a recent meeting have resolved to install at least one CCTV camera at strategic locations suggested by the Mumbai Police in their locality. The CCTV cameras will help the police conduct crackdowns on miscreants and keep a watch on suspicious activities.

The Cuffe Parade Residents Association (CPRA) conducted the meeting with representatives from 49 buildings. The residents also suggested that LED lights should be installed outside buildings for beautification.

The Mumbai police has initiated the process of connecting CCTV cameras of private establishments from the area which will help monitor the locality better. The CPRA members resolved to install at least 20 CCTV cameras in the first phase which will be further increased as per suggestions from the police.

"The CCTV cameras will be accessible to security agencies and will be helpful for keeping our locality safe. We have conveyed the development to the police and we will be meeting senior police officers for discussing about the installation of CCTVs and its direct access," said Padmakar Nandekar, Secretary General, CPRA.
