International travellers moving from Terminal 2 of the city airport are in for a Bambaiyya treat. The terminal's executive lounge is hosting a Mumbai-themed food festival, complete with appropriate cuisine and ambiance. The festival will go on till the end of the month.

Being held on levels 3 and 4 of the newly redeveloped airport, it is open for first, premium business and business class passengers. Passengers can take selfies or ask a photographer stationed there to have their picture taken in the traditional Maharashtrian headgear.

The dabbawalas from Mumbai, who are famous the world over for their tiffin delivery efficiency, have been given a place of prominence, with miniature replicas of dabbas placed on the gold-themed centre tables between the luxuriously cushioned leather sofas. The dabbawala attire too has been donned by some of the waiters, who can be seen serving guests vada pav, misal pav, bhel puri, dosa and pav bhaji among other popular items some of which are displayed on traditional wooden cart or konal shaped bamboo stand.

"We tone down the spiciness of dishes as per passengers' preference. The food is a hit even among foreign travellers, who have been enjoying gorging on the typical street food items of Mumbai," said chief executive chef Rajesh Shetty.

The masala chai, served by kettle-holding chaiwalas- is other attraction of the festival, with passengers being served tea with maska khari and bun maska, decades-old popular favourites of Mumbaikars.

"The chaiwala who sells his tea on cycle late in the night is a service which the city that never sleeps can't do without. Hence, we have kept a cycle with chai in our lounge for the travellers, especially the foreigners to make them aware how important these chaiwalas are to Mumbai," said guest experience manager Pooja Choudhari.

A huge net wall carved out of white marble replicating the Google image of Mumbai city, complete with landmarks, such as railway tracks, airport runway, Mantralaya, Haji Ali, Juhu beach, important government buildings and slums, stretching from south to north add soul to the theme.

For passengers wanting to relieve their stress after or before a tiring journey, there's a complimentary foot massage and a full body massage on offer.

A frequent traveller, sitting in the lounge, said, "The streets food of Mumbai has come alive here."
