The Institute of Chartered Accountant of India (ICAI) declared the results of the Chartered Accountants Final Examination (old course and new course) and Foundation Examinations on Tuesday on their official website.

These examinations were held in the month of May and June this year. Though not a single student from Mumbai managed to grab a place in the top three All India Rank (AIR) in the CA final (old), Thane-based Umang Gupta bagged the third rank in the AIR for CA final (old), with a score of 73.50%.

The 21-year-old managed to clear the exam in the first attempt and still is in disbelief.

"I am shocked as this was totally unexpected. Not in my dreams, I imagined getting the third rank," said Gupta.

"Even though I went to a coaching class, self-study is the reason I could achieve what I've achieved. The teachers teach everyone equally but what you prepare on your own creates the benchmark," he added.

Gupta is still deciding whether to get a job or continue with his ongoing CAT entrance exam preparations.

The two other toppers, Ajay Agarwal from Kotputli and Radhalakshmi VP from Hyderabad, are the first and second all-India rankers, respectively.
