Mumbai: Teacher held for sexual assault

The Vikramgadh police have arrested a 29-year-old English teacher of an ashramshala for allegedly molesting a 15-year-old Class IX student while she was asleep. Identified only as Pawar, the accused allegedly fled as soon as the girl woke up and started screaming. Students of the Vatsalya Ashramshala alleged that the school principal did not take any action in the matter, and they had to seek help from local women to register a complaint.

The incident took place on August 24. Pawar has denied all allegations. “We have registered the case under section 354 (molestation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and under relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.

Pawar will be produced in the court on Saturday. Further investigation is on,” said Sunil Nandvalkar, Inspector, police station.
