After it was left hanging from a tree by its throat on Tuesday, a goat escaped death thanks to a brother-sister duo passing by.

Omkar Harshala Lad, 19, and his sister Aishwarya, 21, were heading for their home in Houston at Vasai (E) when they found the goat near Panchvati bridge.

The siblings heard the animal's desperate bleating and were appalled to see it in that state. Omkar said, "We heard its cries and immediately brought him home. We're thankful that our mother is an animal lover, because she has been very supportive."

About the rescue, Aishwarya said, "We removed the rope from which it was tied, took him to the doctor and got him treated."
