Mumbai: Shiv Sena leader Sachin Sawant shot dead at Kandivali

Two bike-borne persons on Sunday night allegedly pumped four rounds of a bullet on a local Shiv Sena leader at Kandivali in Mumbai.

The pedestrians witnessing the incident and rushed the victim to the hospital for treatment, however, Sawant was declared dead before admission.

According to Kurar police, Sawant was near Akurli road when two masked men approached him and fired four rounds from the gun suspected to be an Indian made.

The police teams are investigating the case, and suspect personal rivalry behind the killing.

"The locals who witnessed the incident rushed Sawant at the hospital. His body has been taken for post-mortem at Shatabdi hospital. Four bullet wounds have been found on his body.", said a Kurar police officer.

Udaykumar Rajeshirke, Senior Inspector of Kurar police station confirmed the incident and said, "We will register a case of a murder under the Indian Penal and relevant sections of the Arms Act against unidentified persons. We are investigating the matter."
