Mumbai: Schoolkids used as drug carriers for college students, accused held

The Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) has arrested a person for allegedly supplying drugs by using school kids as agents of delivery for psychotropic substances. The arrest has been made by the Bandra unit of the ANC where the officials on sensing something suspicious immediately apprehended the accused identified as Asif Iqbal Khan aka Chuha (34), who is said to be a resident of Andheri west.

According to the ANC officials, police inspector Anil Wadhawane, was on patrolling duty, where Khan who is a known offender was conducting his activities near gaondevi Dongri area of Andheri.

"Khan has served jail punishment for 2 years before various offenses he did before and after being set out from jail, he again indulged in illegal activities and he repeatedly committed offenses related to drugs and psychotropic substances. As a drug peddler and supplier, he used kids to supply his materials to college students and teens adjoining the area of crime. He frequently targeted school kids thinking this as a soft risk of being intercepted by the local police and also by the ANC. He lured the kids by giving them chocolates, money and other things which could easily convince those kids to do his work. As per demand of the college students, Khan would supply the drug namely Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA), commonly known as ecstasy in limited quantity, but first he made sure he received payment after which he would send the drug via school kids as his courier. All his activities were being traces and soon he was again in police radar." said Deputy Commissioner, Anti- Narcotics, Shivdeep Lande.

"Khan was charged before under The Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at Worli unit and section 324, 328, 504, 452, 506, 504 and section 34 of the Indian Penal Code at D.N Nagar police station. During his interrogation, he has admitted of hiring school kids as his delivery boy and further investigation has lead to seizure of 58 gms of MDMA worth ?1.16 lakh and he has been charged under NDPS Act again. This racket was unearthed to make school and college campuses free of drugs and other similar substances. We are investigating the case from all possible angles and relative investigations in under progress." Lande added.
