Sajive Ravindra Nair, a 53 year old resident whose charred body was recovered from the lift of the Crystal Tower didn't stay in the building. He had in fact gone back to the building after leaving it to ensure that his friend he had gone to wish Eid was safe.

"His body was found in the lift. It was charred and it could be recognised through his watch and the locket he used to wear," said Shakil Ahmed Shaikh, a resident of Crystal and friend of Sajive.

Sajive, 53 years, used to live in Vasai with his wife and son. He had a shop in Parel and had contracts with various hospitals including KEM, Bramhakumaris and various chemist shops. "His shop has been around for 30 years now," said Kishor Bhoir, who used to work for Nair.

"Since he used to be around, we became friends and came closer. We would celebrate our festivals together. Today was one of the day when he had come to celebrate Bakri Eid," said Shaikh who had gone to the mosque to offer Eid Namaz.

"He had met us and then some of us were having snacks. That is when he got to know of the fire. He knew another friend Mashuq Shaikh from the building. After seeing the fire, he went back to the building to check and rescue him and entered the lift where his body was found," said Shaikh.

The friends did not tell Nair's son that his father had passed away. "We did not tell his son when we called him to the hospital. All we told him is that he has fainted. We did not want him to take that shock," said Shaikh.
