Every year, the committee has been coming up with different temple themes since 2002
India's iconic temple structures will come alive in Ganapati pandal themes this Ganeshotsav. Big mandals have been researching on the themes since a few months and have started erecting pandals for the 11-days festival.
Lalbaug-based Ganesh Galli is working on a structure keeping Ayodhya's Shri Ram Mandir in mind. Every year, the committee has been coming up with different temple themes since 2002.
Adhwait Pedhamkar, a committee member, said, "It's been many years that the issue of the Ram Janmabhoomi in Ayodhya is going on. The government is doing their bit, but as a devotee, we wanted to showcase how Shri Ram Mandir looks through devotees' eyes of imagination."
Celebrating 92nd year, this year, Ganesh Galli will try to showcase the architectural view of the temple. He added, "We will also invite the Ayodhya tourism department. The architecture of the temple, to be made of eco-friendly materials, will be a combination of tradition and modernity."
The Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga temple located in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, will be recreated through their pandal by another city-based mandal in Andheri is Andhericha Raja. One of the 12 Jyotirlingams, it is a famous temple dedicated to Lord Shiva.
Uday Salian, a spokesperson of Andhericha Raja, the Azad Nagar Sarvajanik Utsav Samiti, said, "The committee members visited the temple in June month so that we can make its exact replica. The work on the replica has begun. Workers from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar have been roped in to make it."
Vitthal-Rukmini Mandir of Pandharpur will come alive at Kalachowki. A Chembur-based mandal is designing its pandal after the famous Swami Samarth Math (Akkalkot temple) from Solapur.
