In the run up to the crucial Presidential election, and to publicise the work of the Bharatiya Janata Party-led governments at both the Centre and the state, BJP National President Amit Shah will meet with senior party ministers, MPs, legislators and office bearers up to village panchayat, all of whom will be present to give ground level reports during his three-day visit to Mumbai starting today.

Shah will not only review the performance of the BJP led government in the state but also the party's preparation up to all 90,000 booths to face coming election.

The city is in an advanced state of preparedness to welcome the BJP national president. Large billboards have been put up across the city while major roads have been festooned with the BJP flag.

About 500 volunteers on bikes with the party's flag will ride ahead of his cavalcade from the airport to the meeting venue in South Mumbai. All local units are also expected to gather their cadre in large numbers for a massive show of strength in the state capital, even as relations with alliance partner Shiv Sena have been souring of late.

Shah will be in the city starting today as a part of his 95-day nation wide tour to focus on the BJP's consolidation while smoothening relations with present 32 allies including the Sena.

A dossier has also been compiled over the past six months by central ministers and central BJP office-bearers that will act as a handy guide to Shah during his meetings with various persons or groups.

He is also expected to meet with Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray on Sunday. This is also in line with Shah's plan to widen alliances and work together to complete the term of the Devendra Fadnavis-led state government that is currently facing a farmers' protest crisis.

Shah's chai pe charcha with Thackeray is also aimed at further strengthening the partnership to win big in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

Veteran BJP leader Arun Sathe told DNA''It is quite natural for BJP president to meet the leader from (an) ally (party). Apart from upcoming Presidential elections, Shah and Thackeray are expected to discuss wide ranging issues and how to take the alliance forward. It is also an attempt to reduce differences, if any, on the ideological grounds or otherwise.''

On its part, Shiv Sena spokesman and MP Sanjay Raut said both the leaders will at length discuss the present situation at the national and state level. ''Obviously, the Presidential election will be top on the agenda. Shiv Sena will reiterate that RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat should be the NDA's candidate for the President,'' he noted.
