Mumbai Police safeguards belongings of building collapse victims

According to a senior police officer, they have assigned an officer to ensure the safety of the Hussaini resident's vaulables that were collected from the spot.

Valuables of the residents of Hussaini building that collapsed on Friday has been collected from the spot by the police and they have taken it in their possesion to keep it safely. Values include money, ornaments and important documents of the residents like passports and others. 

According to a senior police officer, they have assigned an officer to ensure the safety of the Hussaini resident's vaulables that were collected from the spot and were taken in their possession for safety's sake. The police said they have maintained a record of all the belongings and valuables have been kept safely at the JJ Marg Police Station which will be returned to their respective owners or their relatives. While other household items are also kept safely and the debris are under the watch of CCTV cameras. 

“We have taken stored the valuables at the police station after making the  Panchanama. We will return it to the survivors in the next few days. We want to return them as soon as possible since there are many crucial documents and jewellery, too. We have not kept an account of the value of each, but a record of the property has been maintained. Since there were only many people residing at the building will make sure a proper identification while returning them,” said a police officer.
