The Agripada police on Monday raided the house of Anil Pisal (47), a former Arun Gawli gang member in Dagdi Chawl, and seized Rs 11 lakh unaccounted cash.

PSI Siddhesh Josthte who lead the team of four cops said, “We had a tip off that he had unaccounted money in his house and planned the raid at the right time. Pisal was booked for possession of property of which no satisfactory account was given, under Section 124 of Bombay Police Act and hence, he was arrested without warrant under section 41 CRPC. We have recorded his statement too.”

The raid took place at 7am and the accused was accompanied by his wife and child in the house at the time. The cash was seized from the cupboard during the house search and an offence was registered as he could not provide a satisfactory explanation about the money, another officer privy to the case said.

Deputy Police of Commissioner, Pravin Padwal said, “During 1991 to 1997 the accused was booked under four cases, including extortion and kidnapping, and during this period he was a member of Arun Gawli's gang. Whether he is a part of this gang currently or not is being investigated. We are still interrogating him about where the money was going to be used.”
