Mumbai: Pipeline burst adds to water woes of A Ward

Looks like it was too early for residents of A Ward to rejoice. Just after the problem of irregular water supply was attended, the residents had to endure acute water shortage after a major pipeline at Queen's Necklace burst on Thursday morning.

The 24 inches pipeline supplying water to Marine lines and Churchgate area burst near Marin Plaza hotel at 4.15 am. After receiving a complaint, the officer and workers from the water department of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) rushed to the spot. The issue was resolved, but maintenance work which went on throughout the day till midnight disrupted water supply in the ward.

Colaba, Fort, Churchgate residents are continuously facing water cut and irregular water supply due to many issues. On Monday residents took out morcha on A Ward office 15 to protest against water crunch. Last week, the western suburbs was reeling under water shortage due to re[pair work of Powai and Veravali pipeline undertaken by the hydraulic department.
