A seven-year-old girl was rescued by her mother after their neighbour kidnapped and confined her to his house in Dombivli (West) on Tuesday. The girl lives in Indira Nagar slums, Dombivli (West), and was playing outside while her mother was away at the market.

The 35-year-old man kidnapped the girl, gagged her and tied her hands and feet. After her mother returned home and found her missing, she raised an alarm. She suspected that the girl might be in Nivruthi Bansode’s house, who lives in the neighborhood. When she asked Bansode, he denied seeing the girl.

The woman lurked near his house and a neighbour girl said that her daughter was his Bansode’s house. She knocked at his door and took the girl home. The girl told her mother that she had been tied and her mouth was taped.

The woman then filed a compliant at Vishnu Nagar police station.”The accused had taped the girl’s mouth and tied her hands and feet. When her mother raised an alarm, he got scared and let the girl go. The man could have committed any crime,” said BM Renunke, investigation officer, Vishnu Nagar police station.

He was arrested and remanded in police custody till February 11.

Nivruthi Bansode, 35, is a labourer and was married twice. After his first wife died, he married again. His second wife ran away. Bansode lived alone in Indira Nagar, Dombivli (West).
