Mumbai: Minor fire near Mahalaxmi station brought under control

A fire occurred on the Western line of the Mumbai Suburban Railway system on Saturday afternoon.  

The fire took place on Mahalaxmi EMU (local train) workshop at about 11.30 am. The fire started during the Periodic Overhaul (POH) of an EMU coach due to welding work near oil at 11.30 am. It was brought under control by workshop staff before 12 pm with the help of the inhouse fire fighting system.

After this the fire brigade arrived and took other necessary actions. No injury was reported due to the incident. Suburban train running was also un-affected due to this minor fire incident.

The fire was limited to only one coach.
