Just before the Higher Secondary Certificate Examination in Mumbai, a question paper of chemistry was leaked by a student of a college in Parel using WhatsApp.

The  Bhoiwada police have arrested five persons in connection with the paper leak case including a minor student of 12th, a woman, and three others.

The accused have been identified as Subodh Jha(26),Dinesh Gupta(26),Shilpa Tiwari(25) and Abdul Hakim Shaikh(45).

According to the police, before the exam in a college on February 28, a student of Maharshi Dayanand College in Parel was found in a bathroom while he was sharing pictures of the question paper on WhatsApp with his friends.
The police said as the student was in the bathroom for long, a professor of the college got suspicious and checked him thoroughly when they found a mobile phone with him. The professor then checked the WhatsApp where they found that the student has leaked the question papers with few persons. The professor immediately informed the police and lodged the complaint.

"After registering the case, we immediately laid the trap and arrested four persons with whom the student was in touch. The accused have been booked under relevant sections and stopped it from circulating," said a police officer from Bhoiwada police station.

"The student was paid by these four accused to send the question paper which he had accessed before the exam. The arrested four accused would sell the papers to the students in return for money. We are now probing if they have done the same in past as well," said another police officer.
