Planned growth centres in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) will have the component of 'Smart City'. This is one of the aspects that will be deliberated upon during the 'Mumbai Next' conference to be held on February 6.
Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, noted industrialists, corporate honchos and Bollywood biggies would be a part of the conference.

"We would be ideating on various aspects of how Mumbai can be further transformed. There are three aspects to it – regenerating the existing city, having new growth centres and entertainment tourism," said UPS Madan, metropolitan commissioner, Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA).

There will be a 'War Room' where the chief minister will monitor various infrastructure projects. If there are any issues, the chief minister will liaise and coordinate to remove roadblocks.

"More focus would be on better monitoring of the projects and timely completion of the same," added Madan.

MMRDA has planned growth centres at Kalyan, Panvel, Bhiwandi, Vasai-Virar and Alibaug. "These growth centres will have various components of a Smart City. But which all components can be included will be discussed and decided later," informed Madan.
