The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) plans to connect its two under construction Metro corridors on the Western Express Highway (WEH) and Link Road with malls and offices via foot over bridges that are parallel to Metro alignment to ensure minimal pedestrian movement on the streets.

Currently, MMRDA has said that it is exploring the idea for the Dahisar DN Nagar Metro-2A corridor on Link Road and Dahisar (East) to Andheri (East) Metro-7 corridor on WEH.

Pravin Darade, Additional Metropolitan Commissioner, MMRDA, said, "Connecting malls and offices with Metro via bridge is a part of last mile connectivity of MMRDA wherein connectivity of railway stations, malls and offices are being connected with Metro stations."

Darade added, "With this we also ensure minimal pedestrian movement on the streets and also motivate people to use the metro."

The move seems to toe on the lines of Japan, which has similar metro connectivity.
