A Thane resident is in the dock for sending a lewd message to a woman on Facebook, asking her to have an affair with him. Sachin Maskar, 32, a resident of GP Chawl, Siddeshwar Talao in Thane, used to work in the same company as the victim. He has been arrested by Agripada Police over the message that he sent after he assumed the victim was already having an affair with the boss. Police arrested him after tracing his Internet Protocol (IP) address.

According to the police, the complainant (name withheld) works in a private company. On August 17, she visited a food joint at Saat Rasta circle near Mahalaxmi railway station with a friend.

"She received a message on Facebook in which the sender accused her of having an affair with the boss and asked her to oblige him too. The victim immediately lodged a complaint with the police," said an officer at Agripada police station.

The name on the account used by the accused was not traceable, so the police tracked the IP address. "We suspect one Sachin Maskar, who used to work with the victim's company till 2011 and had then quit, to have sent the message," the officer added.

Maskar was arrested early on Sunday. The police have also seized a Samsung mobile phone that he allegedly used to send the message.
