Mumbai: Man saved after falling off train while boarding

According to RPF officials, Ravindra Panda, a passenger on 16339 CSTM Nagercoil Express, got off to buy refreshments when the train arrived at Karjat platform number 1.

A team of Railway Protection Force personnel managed to save the life of a passenger after he fell while boarding a running train. The incident happened around 2pm on Wednesday.

According to RPF officials, Ravindra Panda, a passenger on 16339 CSTM Nagercoil Express, got off to buy refreshments when the train arrived at Karjat platform number 1.

"The train started moving and Panda ran towards coach B1 to board it. He lost his grip on the handle at the door and was being dragged by the train which was gaining speed." said the RPF official.  

On duty RPF anti-robbery staff constable Chandrakant Rupde, along with lady Constables Prachi Guram and Anita Yadav who were in platform duty, rushed to the help of Panda who was pulled out to safety in the nick of time.

"The train guard was requested to stop the train by the RPF staff and the passenger continued his onward journey in the same train. RPF Lonavala was requested to attend the passenger at Lonavala to provide medical aid if required" said the official.
